When choosing repertoire for this album, I used the same thought process as when I program a solo recital: I obviously want to pick music that enjoy playing and enjoy listening to. I also always like to challenge myself with pieces that are beyond my current technical abilities (see Kevin Day's Euphonium Concerto...). Finally, it was important to me to record music that had not been recorded before, but definitely deserved to be. What resulted from this process is an album full of newer music for the tuba and euphonium (and sometimes both) representing a variety of styles and textures. ​​​
